Claire Antoine (she/her)

Claire is in her final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Dance at the University of Calgary. She grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and immigrated to Canada to pursue her post-secondary education.

Her research interests include racism, racialization, colonialism, feminism, masculinity, and immigration. Claire has worked on academic papers examining the development of racist ideologies in Western societies, as well as the ways in which racialized masculinity has been shaped by colonialism and slavery and their lasting impacts. She hopes to continue exploring the intersections of colonialism and racialization, particularly how these forces continue to shape perceptions of masculinity, gender, and immigration.

Outside of her academic work, Claire enjoys dancing, spending time outdoors, arts and crafts, and reading.
