Riann Lognon (she/her)
Riann pursued her master’s degree in Sociology at the University of Calgary during her role as a community liaison. After completing an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree at Quest University Canada, Riann had spent three years working on an urban farming project for newcomer families creating a sense of home and belonging here in Calgary. As she weeded, harvested, cooked, and cultivated both the land and a relationship to this place with these families, Riann has become fascinated by community urban agriculture. She has been curious about the intersections of community, agriculture, re-settlement, and belonging found within such projects situated in the gendered, classed, and racialized contexts of urban and non-profit settings. Riann also facilitated programming for refugee youth and is excited to continue working with these brilliant humans as a research assistant on this project.
